Have you ever had an experience where you were so close to accomplishing something but then you have a setback that pushes your goal just a little further away? That’s how I’m feeling right now. I was so close to finally feeling like I’m not having to push this figurative rock uphill anymore and things were going to be easier.
But of course that’s not what happened. I was supposed to get paid this last Friday. My first big paycheck from this new job. I was going to clear some debt, and finally have some money back in the bank. Turns out my banking information was entered wrong, and now I have to wait however long it’s going to take for the money to kick back so my employer can issue the payment to me again.
It’s all such wonderful timing. My truck payment is due today, and a couple other bills. Which would have been all taken care of if my payment came in like it was supposed to 3 days ago.
So here I am. About to go in for another shift and having to wait more and more for this problem to be solved. I was almost home free.
I worked Thursday/Friday/Saturday, had Sunday off, and now am about to work another three in a row. Not ideal this week how the schedule worked out but I guess I shouldn’t complain. I’m working and making good money, that will hopefully be paid to me eventually.
I had this list of things I was going to take care of this week. One of them being doing some maintenance on my truck. I need an oil change, and probably top up some of the other fluids as the break in period is just about over on it. Hopefully I can still get that done at some point this weekend if my check comes through during the week.
The weather here is definitely turning. It’s warm today, but the forecast for the next week or so is rain and temperatures dropping into the 60s/low 70s. I was thinking of taking the bike to work today, given we’re getting to the point where soon I will have to get it set up and put away for the winter.
The new job has been fine. It’s such a small place but they do get busy. I have a night shift coming up where I will be the only one on overnight for a few hours which seems daunting. But I know it all turn out okay.
I’ve talked to some of the people that have been there for a while, gauging if I end up extending or going somewhere else once my contract is over. And as of right now, I doubt I’ll want to stick around. There are personalities here that I don’t really enjoy working with and you can’t really get away from it with how few staff there are.
So this week I still feel pretty miserable. I guess that’s the only way I can put it. My finances are not okay. My mental health is miserable. I’m doing my best to keep working out and eating well but damn. I’m hoping that once the money comes in it makes the things in my life that are causing me stress get a little easier and in turn helps my mental health.
It worries me going into the winter how I’m going to feel. My plan was to just travel home in December and spend the month there with family. I should have enough saved by then to be able to have that happen. I’m sure that will make me feel better rather than sitting around here having nothing to do after my contract and feeling trapped with all the snow.
One step at a time I guess. I just have to keep going.
Thanks for reading.
