It’s been another slow couple of days off. I went to the lake today and spent some time on the water in my kayak. I felt guilty sitting inside when it was clear skies and 90 degrees outside. So I packed up and headed 20 minutes south to get some sunshine. It was really calming… Read more: Act – 7/15/2026.
  • Humanity – 7/10/2026.
Getting ready to head into my stretch of three for the weekend. My days off this week were slow. I went on a ride yesterday with my friend from work. Other than getting caught in a little bit of rain, it was another enjoyable day getting out and putting miles on the bike. I’ve done… Read more: Humanity – 7/10/2026.

I had a really great day last week on my motorcycle trip. My friend and I went down to Colorado Springs, Canon City, and then drove back up through the canyons to get back to Denver. I took a couple days to just do some recovery. My Crohn’s had flared up a little bit and the last couple days I have just felt like I couldn’t get enough sleep. The rain showed up. It’s thundering and lightening outside my apartment as I type. I had plans to go on a motorcycle ride with a friend from work tomorrow so we will see how wet everything is tomorrow when I wake up. I didn’t get up to as much as I’d hoped I would this… Read more: Starter – 6/24/2026.

I applied to a flight nursing position this week here in Colorado. The service that is affiliated with the healthcare system I currently work for had an opening, and I applied. Getting through these flip-flop shifts this week. It’s honestly not that bad working a day, then having a night off, working again, but it doesn’t leave much time in the way of doing anything exciting on the night off. I woke up around noon today and it was already almost 90 degrees outside. It seems… Read more: Wire – 6/6/2026.

Done another stretch of work for the week. I got a job offer and actually signed my new job contract today. I put in my two weeks at my current job Friday night almost immediately after I started my shift.

I’m really excited to finally step away and distance myself from my ex. Not working in the same place anymore will finally let me be completely separated from her life.

I’ve decided to take the month of August off. My brother is coming to visit and my 30th birthday is in the middle of the month so taking time off to spend time with family, enjoy my 30th birthday, and mentally prepare myself for this new job felt appropriate.

I’ll be making double every month what I make now as this new job is a flex contract by one of the local hospitals. It will be exactly what I need to get myself ahead again and help me figure out what I want to do next with my life. The contact is only for 13.5 weeks so I’m not stuck somewhere for another year if I don’t want to be.

Today was really hot. I slept until about noon, went to the bank, and then just took it easy in my apartment relaxing. I’ve been reflecting today on the dating culture here and the kinds of people that I’ve seen on the dating app I have been using.

I’ve talked about this before, but Colorado seems to attract people who crave independence and freedom. Every profile I see is almost the same. Women looking for adventure, looking for people to help them start new hobbies, looking for people who live their life free.

And while I do feel like I have hobbies now, I don’t see myself fitting into the molds that I see these women looking for. I’m not constantly hiking in the woods or up mountains, or fishing streams in the back country, or rushing to the mountain to ski every weekend when there is fresh powder.

I’m not looking to live in a van and completely dispel the social constructs of having a job and working to save money for retirement. I guess I just don’t fit the stereotypical “Denver Man”.

I think that’s why Jen and I didn’t really hit it off. I think that’s what she was looking for ultimately, that was made apparent seeing her run off to the mountains every weekend on her Instagram stories.

And unfortunately, I think that’s what Gabi really wanted in the end also. She was really drawn to the “Denver Man”, cowboy, blue-collar types. I think that really contributed to why it didn’t work out with us. Especially when we moved her and our life just wasn’t suddenly everything she imagined living in Denver again would be.

And so I guess I’ve really felt discouraged from putting myself out there. Right now, I think I’m okay with that. I just want to take the time to focus on my own life and getting my pieces back together.

It’s supposed to rain everyday this week, so we will see what kind of things I get up to on my days off. Hopefully I can go riding at least one day this week.

That’s all I’ve got for now.

Thanks for reading.
