It’s been really nice having the last couple of days off. Things have been really slow. I spent today taking it easy. In the morning I went and got breakfast and ate it at the park like I usually do. I got some groceries. Made it home before the rain started in the afternoon. And then just spent the rest of the day relaxing. I worked out just an hour or two ago, trying to stay on up on my fitness.
I’ve been thinking a lot about what the winter is going to look like for me. If I’m going to try and pick up winter hobbies like snowboarding/skiing or ice fishing. I still haven’t figured it out.
Something that does sound exciting though is learning the seasons here in Colorado and understanding what grows where and at what time. Learning the trees, the flowers, the mushrooms. Foraging has always been something that seemed really cool to me. Learning what I could take from nature to use or consume. And this would be the state to do it.
It will give me some reading to do over the winter. Studying plants and flowers, learning mycology, seasonal changes, as well as animals and fish and their migratory and reproduction habits here in the Rocky Mountain region.
It all kind of ties into the hobbies I have now. Fishing, photography, getting outdoors. We’ll see what I can come up with over the next couple weeks.
Otherwise things have been kind of status quo. I’m making money. Fixing little things and building my life back up again. Trying to stay as healthy as I can. Maintaining friendships and trying to make new ones.
But I still can’t say I’m truly happy right now. Those feelings haven’t come around yet. I’m hoping the more I just put one foot in front of the other I end up walking that direction eventually. I am trying to cultivate the habits that will get me there.
The next couple weeks of work seem really easy. My days are blocked in groups which is nice for my routine. Only the occasional night shift as of right now, but that could change with this new schedule that has yet to be released. We’ll just roll with the punches if anything changes.
But yeah. I’m still here. Trying to keep things going. Definitely still not over a lot of the emotional damage of everything in the grand scheme of things. But time goes on.
Thanks for reading.
